Spent a week in the lovely Cornish coastal village of Mousehole. Train from Bath Spa to Penzance followed by short bus journey to Mousehole. Stayed in a small cottage not far from the harbour; very well appointed. Made good use of our buss passes by means of Penzance bus station: St Ives and Lands End in particular. Coastal path from Lamorna to Mousehole quite rugged but worth the effort. Coastal walk from Lands End to Sennen Cove shorter and less rugged. St Ives far too busy!
Have received the sad news that my old trade union colleague Alex Gilchrist has died. We were both activists in Prospect (trade union for professionals, managers and specialists, previously IPMS/IPCS) and were involved in industrial relations within the Ministry of Defence). He had a no-nonsence negotiation style with management and often accused me of being too soft in my dealings (sometimes true). A colourful character and very much missed.

Bath has many eateries as you would expect of such a popular tourist attraction. A favoured one of mine is the Chapel Arts Centre Cafe; vegetarian and wholefood. Well worth a visit. Address: St James’s Memorial Place, Bath BA1 1QR.
The guest speaker at today’s meeting will give a presentation on “Tragedy in the Riviera”, the botched D Day assault rehearsals at Slapton Sands, South Devon.
When in the Portsmouth area often visit Old Bosham, located by Chichester Harbour, West Sussex. Took this photo Friday 12th February showing the tide covering the waterside road. Village is very historic and well frequented by tourists.
